Overview

Focusing on a regional issue each week, students examine latest news articles and discuss controversial issues on Trump's latest policies, Xi Jinping's Leadership Style, Hong Kong's First Female CE, Brexit etc.

This course establishes a foundation of awareness and inquiry. Students will examine latest news articles from various sources, discuss controversial political and social issues, engage in cooperative learning, and produce well-informed and purposeful follow-up writing.

Coach: Risa Pieters & HanLing Petredean

  • HanLing: Harvard graduate with a double major in Energy and Environmental Sciences and East Asian Studies; National Merit Scholar; Academic pursuits with a global focus, including international trends in policy and environment.
  • Risa: Duke University graduate with a double degree in Global Health and Philosophy, and a minor in Turkish language and culture; President's List; Work experience at the intersection of education, law and international affairs spanning 22 countries
