Learning Goals

Each term (12 classes) will cover a series of debate skills (construction and rebuttal), and selection of local and world issues.

Lower level students (Grade 4-6) will use the three means of persuasion to build convincing arguments while avoiding logical fallacies. Students will demonstrate their knowledge through composing arguments, delivering speeches and debates.

Themes: economy, media, education, sports, religion, information technology

Upper level students (Grade 7-9) will engage in public form debates, and will be challenged to critically engage with current events and process information quickly in extemporaneous speaking. Issue addressed will be drawn from a selection of topics covered in the Liberal Studies curriculum.

Themes: Hong Kong today, modern China, globalization, public health, energy technology and more!
