I have loved working alongside The Open Classroom in their work. They are not only committed educators, but also committed Global Citizens. They carefully craft every minute to give the students not only an enjoyable experience, but one that deeply impacts their minds and hearts also. If you want your children to gain more than information, but real learning, I would heartily recommend you try The Open Classroom.

It was a pleasure to partner with the Young Leaders of Tomorrow at The Open Classroom on a Table For Two project. The students created an informative and professional presentation that helped us to gain valuable insight as to how we can better engage with youth and teach them about the global food imbalance. Their global awareness and maturity were impressive and we are thankful to have been included in your program!

The Open Classroom is so far the only place I know in Hong Kong that teaches students topics that increases both their social awareness and instills a sense of social responsibility through carefully crafted project learning modules. They are able to combine classroom learning with a real hands-on experience to reinforce what has been taught so their students can apply to the real world what was learned.

Civic responsibility is an area often overlooked by many traditional, educational systems, and the beauty of The Open Classroom is that it allows these kids to understand that they can be relevant in a world where adults have all the power. The Open Classroom provided HKDR with the means to connect with these children in a way that was both informative and fun for everyone.

Critical thinking is a skill set that is very relevant and essential for young minds. At TOC, I had opportunity to discuss the importance of having effective communications and analytical thinking skills. The importance of obtaining knowledge outside the realm of academic studies was emphasized during our session. Learning to think out of the box is something that is particularly important for Hong Kong students and I believe young minds can benefit greatly from the module.

In co-developing this module, I was part of the creation of a curriculum that teaches thinking and writing through a topic (food & restaurants) that is both interesting and relevant to the kids. After learning relevant vocabularies/phrases and studying sample reviews, the students were asked to take notes when they dined out with their parents and to create their own restaurant reviews.

It is a pleasure co-designing this workshop with and teaching at The Open Classroom. What I like is that The Open Classroom set up a platform for me to share my passion and perspectives — through a profession, a social responsibility theme is introduced... In this module, we explored various subjects related to marine conservation through discussions which require students to apply their critical thinking skills.

Thank you for the donation we received from the funds that were raised during the "Leadership In Action" Fund-yo event. The students' enthusiasm and dedication to learning about local eco-friendly businesses, creating products, and selling them to raise funds for NGOs were quite impressive! They were able to learn about our mission and then turn around and create a meaningful presentation showing that they truly understood our organization and how to share the message with others. It was a great experience seeing your students take on the project and execute it with such passion and submit such a great final product!

We would like to thank “The Kiwis” for their contribution towards finding better ways for participants in our Blind X-perience simulation to engage with the visually impaired around the world, and towards broadening Crossroads’ offer of related FairTrade goods. The Kiwis showed great empathy and understanding of the matter and their suggestions will definitely be used to strengthen this program. We’re looking forward to working with The Open Classroom again!

The proposal prepared by Chillies about how to enhance and to run Dialogue in Silence Hong Kong towards local secondary school was a high quality one — in terms of the idea, execution to presentation. We highly recommend this program to others and it was our pleasure to be included in your program. We have implemented some of the ideas from Chillies in our education program, positive feedback were received from schools. Well done!
